京都・西陣の老舗帯メーカー「服部織物」と建築から家具の設計デザインまで幅広く行う「GENETO」によってアートユニットを立ち上げました。どちらも京都を拠点にしながら全国で展開している共通点を持ちます。 服部織物がもつ220年以上の歴史、伝統、培ってきた技術とGENETOによるコンテンポラリーなアプローチのデザインにより、伝統と近代が融合したアート作品を作るプロジェクトです。
"HATTORI Orimono (textile), Inc" from Nishijin, Kyoto, and "GENETO", have collaborated to launch a new art unit called hattorixgeneto. With HATTORI Orimono (textile), Inc specialising in the manufacture of textiles and GENETO in the construction of buildings, as well as the design of bespoke furniture, this presents a joint partnership to expand their businesses outside of their base in Kyoto, Japan.
hattori×geneto is a unique project that proposes to introduce art works that are modern and intergrated with strong elements of tradition. Combining GENETO's contemporary approach to design and Hattori’s manufacturing skills, which date back over 220 years, they have been able to create something very distinctive.
